The pair met in 2019 when they co-starred in the play Betrayal together in London and New York. Betrayal recounts a seven-year romance in reverse chronological order, and it very much kicked off their own love story.

Rumors about the couple’s engagement began to fly when they made their red carpet debut at the BAFTA’s in 2022, when Zawe was sporting a HUGE diamond on her ring finger. And when we say huge, we mean it.

What Does Zawe Ashton’s Engagement Ring Look Like?

The center stone appears to be an Edwardian cut – particularly popular in the 19th century, this style is said to represent femininity and romance.  The Edwardian era, which roughly spanned from 1901 to 1910, was characterized by delicate and intricate designs, often featuring lace-like filigree work, milgrain detailing, and the use of platinum.

This beautiful diamond is enhanced by a diamond halo, which consists of smaller diamonds surrounding the stone, creating a “halo” effect if you will. The additional diamonds catch and reflect light, making the entire ring appear more luminous.

The halo setting also makes the center stone appear larger than it actually is. By surrounding the main diamond with smaller ones, the overall visual impact is increased, giving the illusion of a more substantial and glamorous ring.

And glamor doesn’t come cheap. For a ring of this size with plenty of character, I’d estimate Zawe’s engagement ring to be worth around $150,000.
