If ever there was a case to get a professional to capture your proposal, this is it…
We spend way too much time than we should looking at viral proposal videos. Most of time we smile, sometimes we even shed a tear… but this is the first time we’ve just laughed. And then laughed some more.
John Hart is a 71-year-old grandfather, so he didn’t exactly grow up with smart phones or selfies. The California resident was visiting Sandia Peak Tramway in Albuquerque, New Mexico, with his family recently when they came across a man about to pop the question.
John was tasked with filming the special moment on someone’s phone, and duly obliged. What he didn’t realise however was that the phone and gimbal was pointing in the wrong direction – right at his own face! So while the beautiful event was unfolding in front of him, the phone was recording nothing but John’s delighted expression!
Along with a big toothy grin, you can watch John exclaim ‘aw, that’s so cool!’, ‘give her the ring and you’ll give her the biggest smile, man!’ and then ‘aw, you turkey!’ when he realises what he’s done.
Don’t worry – the proposal was caught on camera from the correct angle by multiple other people at the scene. But isn’t John just so adorable? After the video went viral, he told Good Morning America “it was quite a mistake but I guess it put a smile on a lot of people’s faces, so that’s a good thing. When he got down on his knees and opened up that ring box, the smile on her was so big and that’s what it was all about.”
All John knows about the couple is that the groom’s name is Christopher, but we hope he gets an invite to the wedding after his viral adventures.
