This will definitely add some magic (get it? Get it???) to the proposal…
If your better half is a Harry Potter superfan, this engagement ring has well and truly raised the bar. Sorry! Reddit user Katiemack777 uploaded a picture of her brand new engagement ring, and as Potter fans ourselves, we can safely say we felt a little bit jealous. She said “my (now) fiance knows that I love Harry Potter almost as much as I love him, so he designed a pretty special ring for me” – and then let the picture do the talking.
This frankly amazing ring is actually three separate yellow gold bands combined into one, although it looks like several stacked rings. In the middle is a round diamond solitaire, ticking off the traditional aspect before going deep into non-traditional, nerd territory. On either side of the main diamond are split shank yellow gold bands, with diamond pave on alternating shanks. Resting in the centre are four coloured gemstones; one ruby, one blue and one yellow sapphire, and one tsavorite (the green gem at top right).
What does it all mean? Each coloured gemstone is the colour of one of the houses in Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardy – red for Gryffindor, green for Slytherin, blue for Ravenclaw and yellow for Hufflepuff. How thoughtful and cool and unique and <insert all the other positive words here> is that??
Katie’s husband-to-be got this one-of-a-kind ring custom made with the help of Shane Co., America’s largest family-owned jeweler. But as a couple of Reddit users pointed out, she has a small problem – where the hell will her wedding band go?? Katie answered she’s not exactly sure how wearing a wedding band would work, so she might just forget about it completely… or she might wear the ring as a necklace.
Either way, we’re delighted for Katie and her super-cool engagement ring. Congrats!
