Hurricane Harvey caused havoc in Texas back in August, and the effects are still being felt now. 300,000 people were left without electricity, billions of dollars of property damage was sustained, 30,000 people were displaced and the death toll headed towards 100. Basically, it was the worst storm seen in the state for a long time.
When something like this happens, it’s always inspiring to see people helping each other out in any way possible. And one Houston-based jeweller is doing just that.
As anyone who has ever misplaced their bling will tell you, it’s almost heartbreaking. And in hurricane circumstances when there’s little or no chance of ever finding it again, we can’t even imagine what it must feel like. So the Houston branch of Robbins Brothers jewellers deserves a major clap on the back… in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey, they decided to offer free solitaire, diamond simulant, sterling silver rings to 100 hurricane victims.
“When you lose a house and a car, a ring doesn’t seem like a big significance, but to a lot of people, it really is. You lose a ring, you lose something you’ve had on your finger for the last 20 or 30 years and it seems like you’re missing a piece of you whenever you don’t have it” General Manager Thomas Shipp said.
The rings may not have real diamonds or platinum, but you can’t help but applaud Robbins Brothers for their generosity and kind hearted-ness. And since they only had a limited number of free rings, they decided to spread the love some more by offering ‘friends and family’ discount prices until the end of the month and free cleaning and inspections until further notice.
We hope those 100 rings give some comfort to the victims, and well done to Robbins Brothers for helping the people of Houston out.
