Every week we pick the best and worst engagement rings to emerge from the land of the rich and famous. This week we feature two rings that are incredibly closely matched…
Engagements happen on a daily basis in showbusiness. Naturally, every bride – whether famous or not – thinks that their own engagement ring is the most beautiful in the world. The rest of us, however, may or may not feel the same. We scour the web every week for the latest celebrity engagement news, and choose what WE feel are the best and worst. It’s all done in the spirit of fun, we mean no harm – and of course we wish the best to all of the happy couples! Here are our picks for this week…
The Best: Kirstin Maldonado
Kirstin Maldonado is one member of the acapella musical ensemble Pentatonix, who are currently on a world tour. At their stop in Paris, boyfriend Jeremy Michael Lewis popped the question right in front of the Eiffel Tower – can’t get more romantic than that, right?
We beg to differ, because the ring he gave her is simply incredible. It’s got a cushion or square cut centre diamond of we’re guessing 1 carat, surrounded by a double halo of round white diamonds, on a band with super delicate filigree detailing. It’s nothing short of BEAUTIFUL, it’s elegant, and best of all; it’s something anyone could wear.
Our Verdict: Delicate, just the right amount of sparkle, and perfectly on-trend. We LOVE this ring. Currently thinking up schemes to befriend Kirstin and get an up-close, in-person view of this absolutely gorgeous piece of jewellery.
The Worst: Ashley Hinshaw
If Ashely Hinshaw’s face looks familiar, that’s because the actress and model has had small parts in pretty much everything for last 6 or 7 years. She’s also married to Topher Grace, star of That 70s Show, as of last month.
The couple got engaged in January 2015 and Topher asked that question with this stunning rock. You’re looking at a square cut diamond (somewhere around 2 carats, we think) with a white diamond halo and a simple but perfect plain platinum band.
Minimalist yet blingy, no fuss yet maximum glamour, and just big enough to be high-impact without being over-the-top Hollywood. Excellent choice, Mr. and Mrs. Grace!
Our Verdict: This should really be called ‘the other best’ ring, because the two are remarkably similar. Ashley’s is equally beautiful, but the double halo and fine detailing on Kirstin’s version just pips the post for us. Not that we wouldn’t happily wear Ashley’s for the rest of our lives too.
