SPOTTED: the real Chuck Bass has found his Blair Waldorf.
Gossip Girl alum Ed Westwick is engaged. The 36-year-old actor proposed to his girlfriend, Amy Jackson, while on a getaway to Switzerland, and the moment was picture perfect. Ed got down on one knee while he and Amy were on the Peak Walk by Tissot in Gstaad.
Luckily for us, the soon-to-be spouses shared the pictures via Instagram, captioning the post, “HELL YES!” with a diamond ring emoji. Westwick re-shared the post via his Instagram Story, writing, “I hit the jackpot xxx.”The final photo in the Instagram carousel showed Amy’s engagement ring on her finger; an oval-shaped sparkler.
Here’s everything we know about Amy’s engagement ring.
What Kind of Engagement Ring Did He Propose With?
Amy Jackson’s engagement ring is a stunning and timeless 4-carat oval solitaire diamond, a shape that has gained popularity in recent years.
Oval diamonds are renowned for their elegance and versatility. The elongated silhouette not only creates an illusion of a larger size but also enhances the finger’s appearance, adding a touch of sophistication.
The solitaire setting is a classic choice, placing the magnificent oval diamond as a solitary focal point highlights its beauty and allows it to captivate with unparalleled brilliance.
The oval diamond is a rubover set, meaning it is set with the metal pushed up and around the parameter of the diamond, rather than being traditionally set with claws. Rub-over settings are an ultra-modern way to style a solitaire ring. Unique enough that they break the boundaries of traditional style, while remaining very simple and refined.
How Much Is Amy’s Engagement Ring Worth?
If it is a natural diamond, this ring would be worth around $120,000. Natural diamonds this size are rare: there are only a handful of top-quality four-carat natural diamonds available.
However, given the rarity of this type of diamond, there is a high chance that this one is lab-grown rather than naturally sourced. A four-carat lab-grown ring would be closer to $40,000. Since their introduction to the market, lab-grown diamonds have boomed in popularity as a more affordable and sustainable alternative to natural diamonds.
When it comes to Amy’s ring, we’ll never know, but it’s beautiful nonetheless. The perfect ring for a perfect couple.
Last year, Ed opened up to Daily Mail about his and Amy’s decision to move into a new home together in the UK. “We got a new place in the countryside just outside of London. Things are wonderful, she’s my best mate.” Best mate, and soon to be wifey. We’re here for it.
